Hi,
I’m making this video in Maltese, but I’ll include the English translation below to better explain how to use the Deep Breathing Necklace, as well as the difference between the Vocal Recovery Spray, Vocal Recovery Drops, and the Nasal Recovery Spray.
Every new member who joined us within the last two months should have found this item in their singing bag. This is the pouch, and inside is the breathing necklace.
If, by any chance, you did not receive one, please contact Administration as soon as possible. It is very rare, but mistakes can happen, so please double-check. Students who joined before this period would not have received it in their original kit, as it was not included at the time and had to be purchased separately. However, I have now made it part of the starter kit because it is such an essential tool.
How to Use the Deep Breathing Necklace
This small tool serves two very important purposes.
1. Breathing Technique
Good breathing is the foundation of good singing. If a singer is not breathing correctly, they cannot perform at their best. In fact, breathing is one of the very first things we teach in vocal technique.
Many of the issues we encounter during sessions are directly related to breathing. Even though our technique tutors and vocal coaches explain it repeatedly, it can take time to fully understand because it is not easy. Often, our brains tell us one thing while our bodies do another.
Breathing correctly is not simply taking a quick breath.
The breath must be controlled and precise.
To practise:
Place your hands on your stomach.
Inhale through the necklace.
As you breathe in, your stomach should expand outward.
As you exhale, your stomach should move inward.
The necklace helps your body relax and encourages proper breathing habits.
Even if you use it for only 60 seconds a day, it can significantly improve your breathing technique, helping you sing and project your voice more effectively.
2. Relaxation and Anxiety Control
The necklace is also excellent for managing anxiety and nerves before:
Exams
Performances
Review sessions
Competitions
Any stressful situation
To use it:
Sit comfortably.
Close your eyes.
Slowly inhale through your nose.
Slowly exhale through the necklace.
Repeat this several times.
If you are feeling anxious, it may be difficult at first to slow down your breathing. However, the necklace helps you gradually relax, allowing your breathing and nervous system to calm down naturally.
This is why we call it the Deep Breathing Tool.
Vocal Recovery Drops vs Vocal Recovery Spray
Many people ask about the difference between these two products.
Vocal Recovery Drops
The Vocal Recovery Drops should always be mixed with:
Warm water
Tea
Honey
Syrup
They should never be taken directly.
Some children dislike tea or warm drinks, which is why, together with our herbalist, we developed the Vocal Recovery Spray.
Vocal Recovery Spray
The Vocal Recovery Spray is much less invasive and more convenient, especially for children.
It contains a stronger peppermint flavour, which masks the stronger taste of the oils while still providing the same benefits.
Unlike the drops, the spray can be used directly.
This makes it ideal:
Just before going on stage
Before a performance
Before singing
You do not need tea or warm water.
Simply shake the bottle well and spray towards the back of the throat.
A couple of sprays are enough.
The spray is gentler than the drops, so if you are experiencing significant vocal strain or hoarseness, the Vocal Recovery Drops remain the stronger option.
However, for quick support while on the go, the spray is fantastic.
Nasal Recovery Spray
Many people tell me they rely on Hysan medication.
While these can be helpful when prescribed by a doctor, they are not always ideal for long-term use.
That is why we also developed the Herbal Nasal Recovery Spray.
To use it:
Shake the bottle.
Spray into one nostril.
Spray into the other nostril.
Wait a few moments.
You may then feel the need to gently blow your nose.
Final Notes
Both the Vocal Recovery products and the Nasal Recovery Spray are:
Herbal
Safe for both children and adults
Gentle in taste
Suitable for regular use
I hope this clears up the questions that many of you ask regularly. I know I have posted instructions before, but not everyone has time to read everything, and information can sometimes get lost.
I hope this video helps.
Bye! ❤️
